actually does

Rain

Rabbit felt sheds a light shower longer than wool because the fibres pack denser, but in sustained rain it still absorbs and the brim drops. Dry it upside down in shade over 12 to 24 hours, never with heat. No water-repellent finish is applied.

Crushing

Light pressure is fine, folding is not. The half-stiffened crown recovers from a squeeze but keeps a mark from a hard fold.

Shedding

Fine rabbit felt sheds less than wool but still gives off a light surface fibre for about two weeks. One pass of a soft brush in the nap direction clears it.

About this hat

The trilby proportion in rabbit felt. Because the felt is thinner for the same rigidity, the brim edge could be bound in grosgrain rather than left raw, which is what gives this one its finished line.

Noticeably lighter on the head than the wool trilbies at the same brim width.

Care

Drying: Air dry upside down on the crown, in shade, away from radiators and direct heat.
Brushing: Brush with a soft brush in one direction only, anticlockwise around the crown.
Storage: Store upside down on the crown or in a rigid box. Never stack anything on top of it.
