Three questions we answer on every hat before you buy it. A hat that cannot answer all three is not listed at all.
Unstiffened felt has the least resistance to water of anything we make. Wet through, it will lose the crown shape entirely. Dry it upside down in shade with paper in the crown and reshape it by hand as it dries.
Made to be rolled. Roll it brim outward into a loose coil and it opens back to shape within about an hour. Rolling repeatedly along the same line will eventually mark the crown.
Fine rabbit felt sheds less than wool but still gives off a light surface fibre for about two weeks. One pass of a soft brush in the nap direction clears it.
No stiffener at all. The crown folds flat in a hand and the brim ripples rather than holding a line, which is the point: this is the fedora that goes in a coat pocket.
Because nothing is holding the shape but the felt itself, the crease you leave in it is the crease it keeps. Reshape it by hand whenever you like.
