actually does

Three questions we answer on every hat before you buy it. A hat that cannot answer all three is not listed at all.

Rain

The stiffener softens when this hat is soaked and the blocked shape can settle out of true as it dries. Dry it upside down in shade for a full 24 hours and press the crown and brim back by hand while the felt is still slightly damp.

Crushing

Do not fold or compress this hat. Stiffened felt does not return — once it is creased out of shape, it stays creased. Carry it in a box.

Shedding

At this density the surface releases very little loose fibre — a week of light brushing at most. The compression has already done what brushing normally does.

About this hat

The most compressed felt we work with, blocked into an architectural crown where every fold meets at a defined edge rather than a soft curve. Nothing else in the catalogue holds a line like this.

It is also the least tolerant object we sell. Handle it by the brim, store it in a box, and it will outlast everything else here.

Care

Drying: Air dry upside down in shade over 24 hours and reshape by hand while slightly damp.
Brushing: Brush in one direction with a soft brush; work the rolled brim edge separately.
Storage: Store in a rigid box. This shape does not survive being stacked or compressed.
